Carter Rejects LeBron Documentary Report

Maverick Carter denied the documentary report on Thursday. He posted his response on X. LeBron James reposted the message on his timeline.

Carter stated they are not doing anything like The Last Dance. He said James does not even know when his last season is. The statement was clear and direct.

Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported the initial story. He claimed ESPN and James were close to a deal. The series would follow James' 76ers tenure.

Marchand said talks were at the one-yard line. A camera crew would document James in Philadelphia. The report compared it to Michael Jordan's famous documentary.

James Signs with 76ers

James signed a two-year contract with Philadelphia on Friday. He spent the last eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. He informed the Lakers of his departure on June 30.

Several teams pursued James in free agency. Cleveland, Golden State, Miami and Minnesota showed interest. He chose the 76ers for a new challenge.

Philadelphia acquired Jaylen Brown in a July 1 trade. The 76ers now have James, Brown, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. The roster looks strong for the Eastern Conference.

James turns 42 next season. His agent Rich Paul suggested he could play two or four more years. Paul said Philadelphia will energize him.

The Last Dance Comparison

The Last Dance released in 2020. It chronicled the Chicago Bulls dynasty. The focus was Jordan's final season in 1997-98.

James averaged 20.9 points last season. He added 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game. His shooting percentages were 51.5 from the field and 31.7 from three.

Carter dismissed any similarity to Jordan's project. The manager said no documentary plans exist. James remains focused on basketball in Philadelphia.

The 76ers enter the season as contenders. A camera crew may still follow the team. But James will not have his own Last Dance series.
